The application period for the 2026–2027 CCS' Choice Programs is open through Friday, January 9, 2026. Families are encouraged to continue exploring programs and make plans to attend upcoming program-specific family nights to find a program based on their students' specific interests and goals.

CCS is highlighting progress in student growth, graduation rates and several tested subjects following the release of the 2024-2025 accountability results by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. 78 percent of the schools in CCS met or exceeded growth.
Cumberland County Schools renewed its accreditation status, receiving Cognia® Systems Accreditation. Cognia, formerly AdvancED, is a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance for schools, school districts and education service providers.
For the fourth consecutive year, the STARward STEM EXPO showcased 16 student teams from seven elementary, middle and high schools. Over the past three years, more than 170 teams and 1,000 students have competed, inspiring the next generation of space explorers and innovators.
