Driver’s Education Fee Information
(Authorized by the 2013 NC General Assembly – Appropriations Act, SB 402)

Fee Structure:

• Standard Fee: $65.00 per student

• Reduced Fee: $32.50 for students who qualify for free or reduced lunch

This fee covers the classroom phase of Driver’s Education. Classes will be held at each high school and are also available to private, charter, and homeschool students.

Eligibility:
Under NC General Statute 20-88.1, each eligible student is allowed one opportunity through their school system to take Driver’s Education. Any additional instruction must be arranged privately through a commercial provider.
